Many of the greatest role models rose from humble and at times seemingly impossible circumstances; achieving success and motivating others to follow. Not every young person with tenacity and dedication will find themselves in the public spotlight. These children however, are what inspired us to make their cause a principal aim when laying out the mission for The Butler Family Foundation. As a businessman, I believe in investment for the future. As a father, I believe in providing children with what they need in order to navigate a passionate and productive life. I believe that I am not alone when I look at children living in less fortunate circumstances and feel compelled to support the quest of empowering them.
Charity Translates
Charity done right begins at the heart. When one sacrifices of themselves or their means for the sake of another, it serves as a paradoxical reminder that having less equates to having more. It is an act of selflessness and is unique to each person which brings me to my first point about how charitable contributions translate into the empowerment of today’s youth.
First we must keep in mind that not all charitable contributions are monetary, although money is indeed a critical and necessary part of maintaining and funding any type of social enrichment program. This holds especially true when said programs focus on the at-risk or underprivileged. Volunteers add an immeasurable value. This means of giving is often the choice for those who may not have the material means to give, yet insist on satisfying a passion and commitment for helping others thrive. They are educators and mentors. They become role models. They leave the mark of compassion on youthful hearts which almost certainly secures their place among fond childhood recollections of a productive adult. I encourage you to never underestimate the remarkable impact of giving of yourself.
Offering Youth an Edge
Empowering youth is an enormous step toward limiting their vulnerability. It serves as an intercedent between the ills of society that can be detrimental to young people and positive influences or activities that steer them toward a personal belief that they too can reach for the stars.
Charitable contributions provide the tools youth need to reach for their goals and dreams. Monetary donations are a crucial means of acquiring materials used for educating and fueling those dreams. The unfortunate truth is that often at-risk or underprivileged youth have limited options, some of which lead to negative consequences. The other one involves empowerment and education, role models and confidants, tools and equipment to practice artistic expression and scientific discovery. The Butler Family Foundation is committed to empowering youth through programs that focus on building sustainable life skills while additionally taking it a step further by funding and overseeing programs which assist youth in obtaining what they need in order to achieve goals they may have once viewed as unattainable for them.
Regardless of how you manifest your own charitable spirit, one united message transcends all others. That message is that empowerment and charity have a very close and reciprocal relationship with one another. Empowerment is a driving force for charitable acts in that it leads us down a path where we become more grateful for what we can offer the world rather than what we can take from it. Youth who are positively impacted by such caring acts often go on to become the biggest proponents of charity based social programs and causes. What could be better than knowing our charitable acts today will leave a legacy that lasts a lifetime?
